Scent Work 1 |
Prerequisite: Beginner Obedience Cost: $90 Minimum Age: 1 year Duration: 6 weeks (1 class/week) This class will introduce dogs to searching and build drive for searching. Using food rewards, dogs will learn to search inside of boxes and other containers, search under objects and on top of objects, around corners and in mazes. Handlers will learn long line handling skills. No scent will be introduced in this class. Handlers will need to bring plenty of high value rewards. Dogs will need to be able to be crated. |

Scent Work 2 |
Prerequisite: Scent Work 1
Cost: $90 Minimum Age: 1 year Duration: 6 weeks (1 class/week)
This course will introduce the first AKC scent, birch. Birch and food rewards will be paired throughout the class with dogs continuing to practice searching inside of boxes and other containers, searching under objects and on top of objects, around corners and in mazes. Handlers will practice long line handling and scentwork handling skills among search objects. Handlers will need to bring plenty of high value rewards and their long lines. Handlers will need to bring plenty of high value rewards. Dogs will need to be able to be crated. It is recommended this class be taken twice. |
| Scent Work 3 |
Prerequisite: Scent Work 2 Cost: $90 Minimum Age: 1 year Duration: 6 weeks (1 class/week) This course will remove the paired food in the birch searches. Dogs will be introduced to the second AKC scent, Anise. Dogs will work closed container searches and will have opportunities to search in AKC style interior, exterior, buried and container. Dogs will also begin to experience multiple hides in a search. Handlers will need to bring plenty of high value rewards. Dogs will need to be crated. This class will be taken multiple times. |
